The Sun is Out.

The new year begins with a sunny day! What a great way to start the year. Its strangely quiet everywhere today. Its nice. Although I enjoy the festive season, I'm glad some peace and order will soon return. Away with the traffic jams and countless shoppers that mill about everyday. The kids go back to school ( YAY), people go back to work. I'm glad.

My baby girl and I giving goodbye hugs and kisses before I left for Copthorne last night to celebrate the new year's.

The family party at my house last night was pleasant enough with much good food and drinks yet again. Then it was to Copthorne where after the stroke of midnight I started to get really sick. My body waited for the new year and then utterly gave way. While the rest gambled with blackjack and I pretended to know what I was doing with my money and cards, my body started trembling and before too long I couldnt stand and had to thaw out on the balcony. That's when the fever came and the pain wouldnt go away. They tried to get me to go to the doctor's or hospital but I refused because it was freakin' new year's eve. I was willing to stick it out.

What do you call friends who draw hot bubble baths, run down to buy juice, check in on your naked self in the tub (thank god for the massive bubble foam) and as Xinyi said, give the full spa treatment? Awesome friends. Haha. Honestly, even though I was very sick, even though I wanted so badly to overdose on any kind of drug i could get my hands on, listening to them talk and laugh was good medicine. I was suffering out on the balcony and not so great in the tub but it was nice to know they were around. Even at my sickly-ness I could still laugh with them.

My fever broke at about 5am.
Welcome the new year.
Now, I gotta go get better.
Sleep sleep sleep!

Goodbye 2006

2006 was a good year.

Good year because I never ever let myself, no matter what, have a bad year. You learn something from everything. You come out a stronger person.

2006. Major life change.
A year ago I was wrapping scarves and hats to keep me warm whilst spending days holed up in a lab. A year ago I was dealing with things that never seemed to end. Much hurt. Much angst. Much frustration.

Moving home is the second best decision I've made in my life so far. First being moving away in high school. 2006. I brought my babies home. We are one family. I spent my first christmas with them.

So many things happened. A huge wedding, a new engagement, spending time with friends again, spending time with family. Reconnecting. To my old friends. Its been absolutely SUPERB hanging out.

A blast. Thanks for watching my back. More importantly, thanks for respecting my opinions and decisions and supporting me in whatever choices I make in my life. You amigos rock.

To new friends i've made this year.. Cheers.
Its been a real pleasure.

My new friend.
2006. The dog year.

Visiting a new city, checking out my own country, trying new food... it was all nice. I will choose to put the frustrations of the year behind because there is no point.

I daresay 2006 was a real test. I daresay I'm walking out of 2006 stronger, bolder. I never made those christmas wishes, neither am I making new year resolutions, I just want one thing- to become a kinder person. I want to be a generous person in every sense. A bigger heart. So that I can accept different people, circumstances or problems, all with grace. I find myself, perhaps swept up by things around me, becoming more vulgar, unforgiving and judgmental. So i'm gonna do something about it.. 2007 will be even better.

I spent the last 6 months getting used to things, catching up with the pace of life here and now its enough. I will move on. I have some big decisions to make. Life changing again perhaps. I feel 2007 to be an exciting one. I'm looking forward to it.

There's nothing that happened this year that I regret.
Nothing.

I look to the new year with optimism.
Happy New Year everyone.

Sobriety?

Puff the Magic Dragon
or Hand me the Happy Pills.
Pass the bottle round
or lay the Magic Mushrooms down.
Why bother with Sobriety
when Reality is a bitch?

So who wants to go on this magical ride?
You and me.
You and that over painted world you live in.
We'll forget reality for a moment,
Grab some candy floss
Get on a rollercoaster, put our hands up in the air
and just go Whee! Whee! Whee!

So how many seats shall I save?

Moody Sunday

Ice-Bat and I quietly celebrating 8 days away.

3:30am Sunday morning. I'm abitchin'.
Its been an exhausting week.
Despite clearing the work on Friday, I have yet to get a good long sleep.

Crossfire, irritation, misunderstandings,
the lack of understandings, road hooligans,
you name it, its happened in the last few days.
I feel really bullied.

Taken for granted, I call it.

I wish I could care less.
Sometimes I suspect I might have overstayed my welcome in my own country.

Right now, I only wish to stay in my pjs for days on end,
with ipod and dvd remote in hand.
Turn off my cell phone, accept no visitors.
Just Vegetate.

Vote Nathaniel Tan aka Kern Bai, Project Superstar

I dont want to incur the wrath of the blogging nazi.. so here goes..

We went to mediacorp for Project Superstar's recording for the coming Thursday's episode. I've never really been a fan, but I've been following as a show of support for Van's cutie pie brother Nat.

Here he is in all his boyish glory.
Did I mention that he can sing really well?
That helps. He isnt like that small monkey boy from Sg Idol..
whats his name?
Oh yea. Has-been.
Err. Correction. Never was.

I digress.

Vans made us pledge $10 each for voting this week. Ha. Ok, for you and Nat.. Anyway, us girls had a good time and I won't bother going into the details (count on ryce for that) except show this picture that i absolutely love..

None other than our lovely Jasmine outside the mediacorp studios...

Jas. That's practically incest lor.

So last words about project superstar... If you havent had someone to follow yet and dont know what to do with spare change, please, on thursday...

DIAL 1900-112-1002 to vote for Nathaniel.
OR SMS M2 to 71199

Also, watch Thursday's episode to catch glimpses of us hiding behind Nat's posters, and Vanessa with the camera crew in her house. Thanks Vans and Nat for sharing your tickets and to Aunty and Uncle for sharing with us the ultra cool Nat fan posters. Hur hur.

-------

That's a picture of me holding something that took alot of courage to pick up.
I tried my best to look polite in this picture.
I give you one guess to figure out what that thing is.
Ok, nevermind, i take that back. I give you 10 guesses.
Go figure. You guess it right, I buy you dinner.

Love of my Life.

I can't do without.

On This Side

Its almost 6am in the morning and I've just returned from the airport.

At 1am when I was trying to catch a nap, my stomach starting feeling funny. I felt a little nauseas even. The same feeling I got at 1am, 2am in the morning everytime I prepared for my flights to Sydney or Boston. Funny how my morning flights over the years have allowed my body to generate a negative association with Changi airport at 4am.

When it was time to say goodbye to my brother at the glass windows I gave him a hug like I always did when I left, but this time I didn't need to turn around and hold back tears. This time I didnt need to force myself to keep walking foward and not look back. This time it was me on this side of the glass. This time I get to stay.

I get to stay. I get to stay. I get to stay.
It was nice.

5 months and I'm still happy here. Who said I wouldn't last?

Have fun in Tokyo. Bring me back some presents. See you at Christmas.

19 Days to Go.

Much work to do.
Projects with a 7 day deadline.
Christmas shopping without the money part.
I need miracles.
I need a cure for eyebags and dark circles.
I need an appetite.

Since when did "My Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music become a christmas song? Heeren has kindly slotted that song in between a buncha other bona fide xmas music.. Me thinks its Heeren's marketing ploy to get people to believe everything in the stores are their favorite things and buy buy buy for christmas.

We will build castles and weave dreams together. T.P.Castle.

Leftovers

My grandma used to give me leftovers.
I hate leftovers.
Maybe that's why I had a stunted growth.
I'm shrinking.
